GETARAN ALAM
presented by Muhardiman Ismail (Mohar)

A Program of KL International Arts Festival 2018 (DiverseCity)

“Spectrum” will be featuring different styles of music, allowing audiences to enjoy the authentic sound of every instruments across four consecutive nights. Besides, in order to achieve the highest level of auditory performance, "Spectrum" invites four groups of well-known performers in Malaysia to present a four night musical feast, enabling audiences to indulge from a classical and modern perspective to a symphonic oriental and western sense of music.

About the Show

How long has it been since you heard your inner voice? In a world of similar to kaleidoscope, people often lose their way and forget to listen to their inner voice. Studies in recent years shows that the global suicide rate has risen sharply. Alternatively, modern neuro-immunology also states that "the spiritual factors can produce an automatic immunity and self-healing power. This function is an instinct for the human body to adapt to the natural environment," and the healing music is able to calm the spirit through ascension effect. In addition, the oriental and western symphony concert this time, "Spectrum" also invites Muhardiman Ismail (Mohar), who is talented at creating healing music, to bring forward his 10 years of long composition, the "Getaran Alam", which carries peaceful music to audiences.

If nature is a piece of poem, no words could describe how interesting it can be. If nature is a song, then it will awake the happiness of hearts. If nature is a painting, then even the best pen and ink cannot describe the beauty that can be seen everywhere.

The bamboo flute is an instrument that can uplift people to paradise through its melodious, delicate, gentle and beautiful sound. The internationally renowned flute player, Muhardiman Ismail is good at creating healing music together with his partner, a rebana player Ramli Hamid (stage name Ramli Rebana) with more than 10 years of research.

Confucianism states that "the beginning of sound is born at the heart, the movement of the heart, the things and feelings that are moving to shape it." The true meaning of music lies within the voice of heart, love and peace. This whole process from making of the bamboo flute to the composition and performance are all arranged by Mohar himself. “Started from nature and returning back to nature” is his main axis and understanding towards the true meaning of music. He believes that music created by heart will surely touch the hearts of others. The bamboo flute he made by himself is like an angel's harp, which can help to calm people.

Modern neuro-immunology shows that "spiritual factors can produce auto-immune and self-healing powers. This function is an instinct for the human body to adapt to the natural environment," and healing music is able to calm the spirit through ascension effect. In the third performance, audiences get to experience a musical performance that can heal and touch people through the sound of Getaran Alam (the vibration of nature)!
