In collaboration with Goethe-Institut (Malaysia), Rimbun Dahan
Featuring Raymond Liew Jin Pin (Germany / Malaysia) with Ng Chor Guan (Malaysia’s composer) & Koo Chia Meng (Singapore’s multi-media artist), and performed by Folkwang Tanzstudio (Germany) and DPAC Dance Company dancers.
Raymond Liew is a Malaysian choreographer-dancer who survived a tragic speedboat accident in Pulau Tioman in 2013. Fifteen surgeries and a year of recovery later, not only is he able to walk again, he has returned to his passion, more determined than ever to live out his life in dance.
EXCHANGE 1: Raymond Liew Jin Pin & Folkwang Tanzstudio “The Edge”
“The Edge” is a haunting piece created on the edges of life. One peers through the darkness, hiding behind the fear to be seen. There is too much not to be exposed… Drowning. Don't let me drown.
EXCHANGE 2: DPAC Dance Company & Folkwang Tanzstudio “Cut the Clouds”
Born. Reborn. The clouds roll by. Something is being born every minute; something, reborn every other minute. The clouds, still rolling by. Sun shines through the clouds, cutting them up with its gentle rays of hope. To witness is to connect to how long a way one has journeyed. There is always a reason to celebrate.
