A Workshop for actors & directors with Jo Kukathas
A practical scene study workshop for actors and directors who want a practical fun and open engagement with text free from the anxiety of a performance and with an opportunity to learn and try new things. For actors and directors this is an opportunity to observe different ways of helping an actor find his or her performance, ways a scene can be dissected and opened up to reveal itself and different ways the same scene can be played.
The workshop will also allow the participants to see how different people tackle the same text and help you connect to your own strengths as a performer.
The workshop will be broken into three parts. You can choose to come to all three workshops or just one or two. Each workshop is 12 hours spread over two consecutive days. Once you sign up for the workshop you will be sent 2 short texts to learn. If you are joining the workshop either as a director or an observer you do not need to learn these texts but please be familiar with them. The texts will be in a choice of English and/or Malay.
If there are scenes or a monologue you wish you work on please send them to me at least a week before the class starts and we can work on them during our time together. (Not more than two per participant. If your text is in Chinese please send an English translation)
