Micro:bit Workshop For Youth by DPAC & ICOSA Tech (FREE OF CHARGE)
Performing Arts Centre (DPAC) and ICOSA Tech is conducting a STEAM workshop
Micro:bit. Children are invited to participate in the upcoming <“I am a micro:bit programmer”>, a 60-minute
workshop where they learn about programming with a micro-controller, which is
essential knowledge for the 21st century. The software that is being
used is Microsoft Block Editor.
workshop will be conducted in two different sessions to cater for various age
groups, particularly for children who are new to programming. We will also host
another training in the near future to cater for those who are already
well-versed in programming.
workshop includes a quick introduction of the hardware followed by basic
software coding. There will be a practical session where the children will have
an opportunity to write a series of codes that interact with the physical world
(such as shaking the micro:bit).
Date: 27th - 28th May
2017 (Saturday - Sunday)
Time: 10:30am - 12pm (Ages: 12 – 14 years old)
12:30pm - 2pm (Ages: 15 – 18 years old)
Venue: Studio 2, DPAC

need a computer notebook or a laptop with a computer mouse and a USB connector
as well as Wifi connection.
Yoon Siew is a Broadcasting Consultant for one of the fortune 500 companies. He first encountered with micro controller when he was the research assistant working for professor during university life. With this skill set, he was scouted to join a company in San Diego USA without any interview. His first product was written in assembly language with micro-controller chip sets. Since then, he has worked for several companies located in various countries. Yoon Siew has worked on major projects and events such as CNN, Discovery, APEC, Olympics Games, Common Wealth Games, etc. His passion in technology continues to ignite him to teach S.T.E.M classes in school and community during his free time.
