About The Performance
A general brings home his dead sons and the spoils of a ten-year war. This is the price of war for Titus Andronicus – the great victorious Roman general of the Roman Empire. Amongst the spoils are Tamora, Queen of the Goths and her son, from whom Titus will extract his retribution. This act of tradition breeds a requital that will shake the foundations of Rome.
Titus Andronicus is a violent look at the price of loyalty – where atrocities are considered sacrifices, and revenge is a zero-sum game where no one wins in the end. It asks difficult questions about the nature of complicity – where the conscience ends and the rule of law prevails.
